What should I do if I am going to be away from my rental unit for an extended period of time?

Please let your property manager know that you will be away for a period of time. This will help management in case of emergencies. While away be sure not leave appliances on, HVAC should be left at a moderate temperature with the auto fan function ON. Turning of HVAC completely can result in too hot or too cold temperatures which can damage the rental unit.

What do I do if an appliance is not working in my rental unit?

Before assuming that an appliance is no longer functioning, try a few options: Unplug, wait, and plugin the appliance; check you breaker panel labeled the name of the appliance (turn on the switch if it is in the off position); If all fails do not hesitate to contact your property manager for suggestions and or repair scheduling.

Why wont my AC or Heat turn on?

Check your thermostat. Is the thermostat showing a low battery icon? If so gently pull on the thermostat pad to uncover the battery chamber, most of the time these are standard AA or AAA batteries. The HVAC unit might need a filter change or a charge of Freon in Summer - Contact property management to schedule a repair.

My Smoke Detector wont stop beeping, what do I do?

Usually this is a sign of a needed battery change. Please open the smoke detector and remove the battery, If you have a standard 9V battery at hand feel free to install it and press the test button on the detector. If you do not have a replacement battery and require maintenance, do the following. Twist carefully the whole detector turning it to the left and slightly pull down, the detector should pull away from the ceiling; notice a series of small wires and detach the small clip from the detector. This will stop the hardwired detector from beeping. Contact property management to make an appointment to replace the battery.
